Surrey WISE – Women in the Superfast Economy

girl-smiley-face-clipart-4ibrqK6igI’ve recently joined forces with Surrey WISE to deliver social media training under a government initiative to build women’s on line skills. It’s a great project and ideally suited to women returning to work after career breaks who might have missed out on much of the digital revolution. The only downside of this project is that it doesn’t offer the same opportunity to men – and there have been more than a few complaints!

As a former mechanical design engineer I’ve seen plenty of how difficult it can be for women to climb the greasy pole and I genuinely think that we should take any opportunity of a boost we can get and not ask too many questions. On the other hand, as a feminist I believe devoutly in equality of opportunity.

It’s a tough call!

But this is a fantastic opportunity for women living in Surrey who have

  • already started their own business
  • are about to start a business
  • who are returning to work who want to boost their employment opportunities

And I’m proud to be a part of it.
